MISSION

Execute the mission and strategy for day-to-day management of assigned portfolio of Events for all company models including but not limited to artist/host, co-production partners, media/brand partners, and Sixthman owned/operated events with the goal achieving event success based on defined KPIs that can include financial, budgetary, occupancy, annual renewal and more.
Note that management of Events requires cross functional leadership as follows:
Directly manage the assigned Event Management and Community Experience team members for your portfolio of events and indirectly lead Marketing, Talent Buying, Talent Relations, Production and Operations team members assigned to the events in your portfolio.

DEPARTMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve in a leadership capacity for the Sixthman Event team to establish processes and procedures across the Company to support people, processes and execution
- Recommend, develop and implement process and procedure improvements to support scalability of growth of the company with focus on increased efficiency, accuracy, and cost effectiveness as well as enhancing host artist, partner and guest experience.
- Identify opportunities for added efficiencies in current processes and implement new solutions to streamline efforts across all areas of the event cycle (ideation, launch, flight, landing, execution and renewal), improve clarity & communication, monitor bandwidth.
- Implement strategy to proactively determine necessary resources for the department as well as the best resource allocation for assignment of existing events and onboarding of new events (once handed over from Business Development).
- Recruit, hire, train, develop and retain team members making people a top priority
- Attend relevant industry events or festivals to build relationships and to monitor best practices and make appropriate recommendations to keep Sixthman on the leading edge of industry.
EVENT RESPONSIBILITES
- Implement the overall strategy for renewing events including conversations with team members to ensure there is early and constant communication with event decision makers/partners. Work in tandem with the Director of Events to develop a strategy for placing renewals within blocks, recommending conversion of the numbers of days as needed and obtaining early routing/port confirmations.
- Execute the strategy of obtaining a Renewal Term Sheet signoffs and the transition of host obligations from Business Development to the Events team for new programs
- Set and maintain event timelines and milestones to drive ownership and accountability. As part of this, oversee the day-to-day strategy with the appropriate event management team members to ensure they are proactively following up on and moving forward items such as event lineup, waitlist, revenue generation, revenue management, marketing needs, etc. with the appropriate level of urgency
- Identify and build upon existing onboard revenue streams to increase awareness and revenue to maximize profit generation through marketing, added efficiency, authentic brand integration, informing guests to enhance their experience, etc for your events
- Coordinate with marketing and design teams for pre-event communication sales/marketing plans, as well as on-site signage for enhanced experiences
- Drive event management and community experience team members on what Enhanced/Premium Experiences (on and/or off board) are best/appropriate for each event and ensure they are reflected in event budgets (both expenses and revenue generation). Experiences should be integrated, enhance the guest experience and be measurable. Examples are not limited to but including

- Pop Up Shops / Merchandise / Collectible Items (pre event or onsite)
- Revenue Generating Expos/Museums

- Set strategy and standards for innovating the Guest Experience for all Sixthman events (before, during and after sailing) to ensure SPECIAL (as defined by Sixthman as Seeking to invite, Preparing and informing, Exciting, Celebrating and welcoming, Intentionally impacting, Amazing, Leaving an impression) is delivered to drive guest engagement and impact guest return rate and oversee the exporting of best in class examples of SPECIAL for events to the entire portfolio of events
- Lead and mentor your community experience team members in developing the strategy and process for the planning and execution of festivals with goal of providing a world-class experience for event communities year-round.
- Lead and mentor your community experience team members on community development, experiential ideation/execution and communication
- Lead and mentor your community experience team members to create new guest engagement ideas (both experiences with a megaphone as well as event activities) and put processes in place to ensure these ideas are being exported across all events and refreshed regularly. Areas of innovation include inclusion in Launch/event announcement, invite strategies, activity design, tone of announcements, room set up, music/playlists, mailers to excite guests, onsite gifts, activities, excursion set up/ambiance, and oversight of all merchandise and collateral design look and feel.
- Lead the event budgeting process for assigned events in your portfolio:
- Support the Events Team in their education on budget management and communication.
- Maintain a “real time” budget management approach to ensure all fluctuations are caught early
- Lead your team members through the process of preparing the budgets for the following year
- Join all sail-today, pre-settlement and settlement calls for your events.
- When necessary, serve as the Events Manager for certain events such as brand-new events, those in need of special assistance and/or off years to help build added host/partner rapport.
- Work closely with internal teams including:
- Marketing team to strategize marketing and revenue management plans
- Production and Operations teams to finalize event schedule and host-oriented activity needs
- Finance/Inventory teams to monitor budget variances and inventory status
- Bus Dev team to share process best practices and tools
- Talent Relations to ensure all talent needs are being addressed
- Talent Buying team to strategize booking and proper budget
- Guide team members through the above processes and directly lead as needed on hot topics with partners to help resolve issues and advise when to escalate further.
SAILING RESPONSIBILITES
- Attend several of the Company’s multi-day festivals annually with the goal of delivering world class experience to guests, talent, and partners.
- Lead the events you sail on in one of the Onboard Leadership roles (Charter CEO or Event Director)
- Train new team members sailing in the Event Management role or Community Specialist role
- Host new business development prospects or other client/partners that may sail outside of their own events

QUALIFICATIONS
AND EXPERIENCE
|
- Bachelor’s degree required (or equivalent experience)
- 8+ years of experience (previous event management, account management or personnel management strongly preferred)
- Experience with music or hospitality industry strongly preferred
- Must have good verbal, written, interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong relational skills including diplomacy, positivity and respectful attitude
- Strong creativity balanced with strong organization skills and ability to multitask
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changes or challenges
- Computer proficiency (Email, Word, and strong Excel skills)
- Must be based in the Atlanta market and be willing and able to commute to our Sixthman office regularly
